Jotwise Terms of Use

Effective October 13, 2026.

Jotwise is an iPad app made by Jotwise SpA, in Chile (“we”). These terms explain the rules for using the app. By using it, you accept them.

The license

Jotwise is distributed through the App Store. Your license to use it is Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. These terms add to it; if anything here conflicts with that agreement, Apple’s agreement prevails.

Subscription and free trial

  • Writing in Jotwise requires an annual subscription (“Jotwise Annual”) that you sign up for inside the app. The yearly price is the one the App Store shows in your country, before you confirm.
  • If you haven’t used the trial yet, you start with a free 7-day trial with everything. When it ends, you’re charged the annual price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
  • The subscription renews automatically every year unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Apple charges your Apple Account when you confirm the subscription or, if you start with the trial, when the trial ends; and again at each renewal. We never see your payment details.
  • To cancel, go to iPadOS Settings › your name › Subscriptions, or tap “Manage subscription” in the app. Canceling stops renewals, and you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
  • Apple decides refunds. To request one, go to https://reportaproblem.apple.com. To get your subscription back on another iPad with the same Apple Account, tap “Restore purchases” in the app.
  • If Apple can’t collect a renewal, it keeps trying for a while. Until the payment goes through, the app is read-only; check your payment method in “Manage subscription,” and once the payment goes through, you can write again without doing anything else.
  • Without an active subscription (you didn’t subscribe, you canceled and the period ended, a payment failed, or you were refunded), your notes are still yours: you can open, read, search, export, and delete them. What pauses is writing and editing. When you subscribe again, or Apple recovers the payment, you can write again.

Your content

Everything you write in Jotwise is yours. We don’t receive it or use it. How it’s stored and deleted is in the Privacy Policy.

You’re responsible for what you write and for keeping a copy of what matters to you. The app lets you export each notebook (PDF, Markdown, or a .bujo file) and sync with your iCloud; we recommend using them.

Recognition and suggestions

The app reads your handwriting and classifies each line by the symbol you wrote. That reading is a suggestion: it can be wrong, and you can always correct it. The same goes for what it suggests with Apple Intelligence (searches, summaries, reminders): they’re suggestions you confirm, and they can contain mistakes. Check what matters before acting on it, especially dates and tasks.

Acceptable use

Don’t use the app to break the law or infringe other people’s rights. Don’t try to get around the subscription system, or copy, modify, or distribute the app beyond what Apple’s license allows.

What we don’t guarantee

We do our best to make the app work well and not lose anything, but we provide it “as is,” to the extent the law allows. We’re not liable for losing content you didn’t back up, or for failures of iCloud, the App Store, or iPadOS, which are Apple services.

Nothing here limits the rights the law of your country gives you, including, in Chile, those under Law No. 19,496 on consumer protection.

Trademarks and credits

Apple, iPad, iPadOS, Apple Pencil, iCloud, Siri, Spotlight, and Apple Intelligence are trademarks of Apple Inc. Jotwise is an independent app; the BuJo method is its author’s work and Jotwise isn’t affiliated with it. The stroke font used to draw what you type has its own license, in Settings › About › Licenses.

Changes

If we change these terms, we’ll publish the new version at this same address, with its date. If a change affects you in an important way, we’ll also say so in the app.
